SANDERSON, TEXAS 79848
Sanderson is 280 miles west of San Antonio via Hwy 90 or IH 10. After getting out of the city
the pace of life changes dramatically. IH 10 is the faster route but Hwy 90 is the more interesting and relaxing.
Castroville is an Alsatian community and really worth a look see. Another worthy food stop is Castroville Cafe. Downtown on the north side of the street just after crossing the bridge over the Medina river.
The BBQ in HONDO at Heavy's is well respected by Texas Monthly and is worth the stop. Also Hermann and Sons is a great place for steaks and Mexican food.
UVALDE is a bustling town and has several points of interest. Most notable is the Oasis Outback for all sorts of sportsman outfitting, and western wear, guns, amo,, food and lots more.
DEL RIO is the last chance HEB, Walmart, Home Depot, The El Patio is good Mexican food and Manuels for upscale dining and steaks.
For a good hamburger, COMSTOCK has J and P's grill. Also last chance gas, ice, etc. And you will cross Lake Amistad.
You can't miss the "High Bridge" crossing the Pecos River.

The Rest Stop above the bridge is a spectacular view.
Judge Roy Bean visitor's center in LANGTRY is worth a stop for the cactus garden and the cleanest restrooms in west Texas
When going through DRYDEN, you are almost to Sanderson. 20 miles to go.
Next stop, SANDERSON. Take a right at the Kerr Mercantile, First street and we are on the right 1/2 block past the Terrell County Court House..
